We are thrilled to be hosting a full parade through downtown Glenview. This year marks Glenview’s 125th anniversary, and Glenview’s 4th of July parade is part of the celebration! Join us for our annual tradition with floats, entertainers and giveaways! The parade will feature parade floats and entries from local organizations, and this year’s parade theme is Glenview: Past, Present, Future!

Parade Route
Be a part of the parade!
The parade route is approximately 1 mile in length. It begins on Harlem Ave, just north of Glenview Rd adjacent to the Glenview Public Library. The parade will travel south on Harlem to Central Rd., then west on Central to Johns Park where the judges’ reviewing stand will be located. All entries will be judged as they pass the reviewing stand.
Parade Guidelines
This year’s parade theme is Glenview, Past, Present and Future, to celebrate Glenview’s 125th anniversary.
- A maximum of ONE decorated vehicle per group will be allowed.
- The maximum height for all vehicles/floats is 18 feet, due to street lights and power lines.
- All vehicles/floats must be decorated to participate in the parade (i.e. decorated banners, streamers, balloons, stars, red/white/blue decorations, etc.).
Vehicles that are not decorated will be not be permitted in the parade. No refunds will be granted. An antique car/novelty unit are the ONLY exceptions to this rule. - Decorations should be designed to accommodate wind and movement of the vehicle/float.
- No use of water pistols or water guns of any kind can be used during the parade. PARADE OFFICIALS WILL STRICTLY ENFORCE THIS REQUIREMENT.
- Candy must be HANDED to children/adults standing behind the red SAFESIDE lines painted on the streets.
- There will be a maximum of 75 parade entries. No applications will be accepted once the parade is full.
The parade application will open on Monday, April 1 and close on Wednesday, June 19.
Parade details, including your unit number, assigned arrival times, drop-off locations and staging guidelines will be posted here by June 24.

The 2024 Bike Parade will kick off the main Independence Day Parade at 11:15 a.m. at Jackman Park. Show off your wheels and patriotic spirit! Bring your pre-decorated red, white and blue bikes, scooter and strollers. The bike parade is free and all ages are welcome to participate. Children ages 10 years and younger must have a parent walk with them during the parade and bike helmets are highly recommended. Thank you to Wesley Child Care Center and Edward Jones for sponsoring this year’s Bike Parade.

things to know
The Village is increasing security at this year’s Fourth of July celebration to help create a safe, festive atmosphere for parade and fireworks participants and spectators. There will be a very large police presence on-site, and nearly every officer will be on shift. They will be assigned duties throughout the daytime and evening events. The Village has also brought in additional security personnel and resources to work the events.
The Village’s Safety Response Team, which has been trained to rapidly respond to any developing situation, will also be on-site. While some of these safety measures will be visible, others will not be, and we are keeping the full details of our security plan internal for the safety of all participants.
Please leave your personal fireworks, pets, drones and alcohol at home.
Please help us reduce our trash by taking everything that you bring into the park.
